Rachel Charney

Rachel Charney, MD, has an extensive background in clinical, operational, research, and educational medicine. She is dual board-certified in pediatrics and pediatric emergency medicine and has 20 years of clinical experience at Saint Louis Children’s Hospital and SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital. At Cardinal Glennon, she also served as the Medical Director for Disaster Preparedness, where she provided expertise in operational contingencies and optimal patient care in natural and man-made disasters. She was a trusted part of operational continuity for a four-state healthcare system during the COVID pandemic, as well as driving disaster operations for a multi-hospital medical practice. In addition, she is a published researcher in both basic and clinical fields and an experienced national public speaker. She continues to serve as an adjunct professor at Saint Louis University.

Rachel has experience across the operational spectrum of healthcare due to her preparedness work, engaging with all areas of hospital leadership. She focuses on collaborative relationships between healthcare operational groups as well as between healthcare and the community. In addition, Rachel currently serves as a member of the federal National Advisory Board for Children and Disasters, advising the Department of Health and Human Services.

Rachel’s searches are national in scope. She focuses on identifying clinical and non-clinical leaders in academic medical centers.

Rachel received her BS in Biology from Illinois Wesleyan University, completing the last year of her degree at Oxford University. She received her MD degree from Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University. Her residency in Pediatrics and fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine were both completed at Washington University.
