Stephanie Burns has a diverse work experience in the social services sector. Stephanie is currently serving as the Chief of Staff at Diversio since September 2022. Previously, Stephanie worked at the YMCA of Greater Toronto as a Substance Use Counsellor for the Youth Substance Abuse Program from November 2019 to September 2022. In this role, they provided counseling, case management, and crisis intervention support to a caseload of 20-25 individuals. Stephanie also worked as an Outreach Specialist at YMCA from September 2018 to December 2019, where they built relationships with community organizations and spearheaded the redevelopment of educational and promotional materials for the program. Prior to that, Stephanie worked as a Harm Reduction Counsellor at West Scarborough Neighbourhood Community Centre from September 2017 to August 2018, providing one-to-one counseling for youth in conflict with the law. Stephanie also served as an Addictions and Mental Health Student Intern at The Salvation Army, Harbour Light Centre from September 2017 to January 2018, where they were responsible for holding federal parolees accountable and conducting individual meetings and group sessions.
Stephanie Burns has a diverse education history. Stephanie started by obtaining a Graduate Certificate in Addictions and Mental Health from Humber College in 2017. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Arts in Criminology at Carleton University, which they attended from 2010 to 2014.
In addition to their formal education, Stephanie has also achieved various certifications. Stephanie obtained a Diversity & Inclusion Certificate from the Human Resources Professionals Association (HRPA) in May 2022. In January 2022, they completed a certification in Trauma Informed Stabilization Theory from the Academy of Therapy Wisdom. Stephanie's other certifications include Narrative Therapy from the SickKids Centre for Community Mental Health Learning Institute in August 2021, GAIN-Q3 MI ONT Interviewer Certification from Chestnut Health Systems in July 2020, Non-violent Crisis Intervention from the Crisis & Trauma Resource Institute (CTRI) in January 2020, Applied Suicide Intervention Training from Living Works in July 2019, Trauma Counselling For Front-Line Workers - Level 1 from the SickKids Centre for Community Mental Health Learning Institute in July 2019, and Mental Health First Aid from the Mental Health Commission of Canada in November 2017.
