Marleen Kanagawa

Marleen Kanagawa has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Marleen started their career as a Research Consultant at David Oakey Designs, where they collaborated on integrating natural, biological systems into business solutions. Marleen then worked as a Research Assistant at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where they conducted interdisciplinary research on collective animal behavior and presented their findings at a national conference.

Marleen also gained experience as a Microbiology Intern at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, where they assisted with molecular assay development and developed expertise in Vibrio cholerae. Marleen then transitioned to the role of Junior Robotics Instructor at Bricks 4 Kidz, where they taught fundamental principles of engineering and physics to elementary school-aged children.

Marleen's industrial experience includes working as a Production Team Advisor at Schreiber Foods, where they supervised the Chunk Department and focused on meeting production goals and facilitating communication between workers and leadership. Marleen then joined Hilmar Cheese Company as a Research Engineer, where they operated and troubleshooted various pilot unit operations and evaluated new technologies.

Marleen's most recent role was at E. & J. Gallo Winery, where they held multiple positions. As a Quality Engineer, they managed bottling quality, and as a Maintenance Engineer, they ensured reliability maintenance. Their most recent role was as a Senior Maintenance Engineer, where they focused on reliability maintenance.

Marleen's most recent position is as a Production Engineer at Divert.

Marleen Kanagawa's education history begins with their time at Dunwoody High School, where they pursued a College Preparatory with Distinction program from 2003 to 2007. Following their high school graduation, they enrolled at the Georgia Institute of Technology and obtained their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering as well as in Biology, General. Marleen attended Georgia Tech from 2007 to 2012.

In addition to their formal education, Marleen has also acquired various certifications. Notably, they received the 30-hour General Industry Safety and Health certification from the US DEPARTMENT OF LABOR OSHA in June 2022. In the same year, they obtained the Reliability and Maintainability Implementation Certification from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. In 2021, Marleen earned the Stay Lean with Kanban certification from LinkedIn. Prior to these, they obtained several certifications related to software and data analysis, including Excel: PivotTables in Depth, Access 2016 Essential Training, and Learning Minitab, all obtained in 2019. Marlene also earned the Machinery Lubrication Engineer certification from the International Council for Machinery Lubrication (ICML) in January 2022.
