Samia Ramadan has extensive experience in community engagement and support for newcomers in Canada, particularly in youth programs. Currently serving as the MSEP/Youth Program Coordinator at Dixie Bloor Neighbourhood Centre since January 2006, Samia has also held roles including Youth Settlement Counsellor and NYCE Program Coordinator, focusing on helping newcomer youth integrate into society and build connections. Additionally, as a SWIS counsellor at the Peel District School Board and Dufferin Peel Catholic District School Board, Samia provided crucial support in education, employment, housing, and immigration for newcomers facing language and cultural barriers. Samia's earlier experience includes a tenure as Volunteer Coordinator at Dixie Bloor Neighbourhood Centre, where volunteer management and event planning were key responsibilities. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Education from Michigan State University and an Associate degree in Education from Grand Rapids Community College.

Dixie Bloor Neighbourhood Centre

Dixie Bloor Neighbourhood Centre was founded in 1988 by concerned members of the community to enhance the quality of life of those residing in the Dixie Bloor area. Programs offered are free of charge and responsive to the needs of the community including programs for newcomers, job seekers, youth, family, seniors, and many more. Staff, volunteers and neighbors work together to identify and discuss issues and concerns, develop and provide services and programs to meet the needs of the community, and promote community participation. Dixie Bloor Neighbourhood Centre’s mission is to foster an atmosphere which will encourage our community as a whole to participate in and develop a positive, healthy and caring neighbourhood.
