Howard J. Brown has had a long and varied career in sustainability and resource planning. In 1971, they began as a Lecturer in Environment and Resource Planning at Yale University's Schools of Architecture and Forrestry. Howard J. then moved on to become a founding faculty member of Wesleyan University's College of Science in Society in 1975, where they lectured in Resource Planning. In the same year, they co-founded The World Game Institute with Medard Gabel and R. Buckminster Fuller, and served as a board member and collaborator for the life of the organization. In 1980, they founded and became President of RPM Systems, Inc., an environmental management consulting services provider. In 2001, they founded o.s.Earth, Inc., which delivered experiential global education programs to schools, universities, and businesses. In 2012, they co-authored the book "Naked Value: 6 Things Every Business Leader Needs to Know About Resources, Innovation & Competition", and in 2013 they co-founded dMASS Inc., a web-based platform that uses A.I. to help tech scouts at large companies identify emerging and sustainable technologies. In 2016, they served as a Lecturer at Yale University, and in 2019 they became a Lecturer at the Fashion Institute of Technology, teaching courses on Sustainable Design Thinking for a post-graduate certificate program in sustainability.
Howard J. Brown completed a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Washington University in St. Louis from 1963 to 1967. Howard J. then went on to Yale University from 1968 to 1970, where they earned a Master of City Planning in the School of Art and Architecture, specializing in City Planning, Environment and Resources.
