Scott Birkbeck currently serves as Technical Services Manager and Operations Readiness Manager at DMC Mining Services since September 2017. Previously, Scott was the Owner/Consultant at AfterMath Solutions LLC from January 2017 to October 2023, providing expertise in mining project consulting that encompassed various systems such as shaft sinking and underground material handling. Earlier in the career, Scott worked at Cementation USA Inc. in several roles, including Senior Project Engineer, Construction Superintendent, and Project Engineer, focusing on engineering, purchasing, and construction management for diverse mining projects. Scott's initial experience in the industry began at Cementation Canada Inc. as a Shaft Engineer. Scott holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering from the University of Arizona, earned between 2004 and 2008.

In its second year in business, it started building the Macassa Mine shaft, for which, it still holds the record for the deepest single-lift timbered shaft in the world. 1992 DMC developed the Long Round Concept for shaft sinking, an innovation that improved productivity by 20%. 2013 The company initiated and developed leading edge, shaft sinking technology using Shaft Boring Roadheaders (SBRs) designed and built in Germany for a twin shaft project in Canada. 2015 DMC's Jansen team performed the first ever installation of shaft tubing using a robotic arm called the Blairmore Ring Erector (BRE). 2019 First full completion of 2 x 1000 metre BHP Billiton’s Jansen Shaft project using SBR technology.
