John Yates

John is a Partner and Group Head of the Commercial team in Gatwick. He specialises in technology, commercial contracts and intellectual property law.

John has wide experience of advising on all areas of commercial law and business matters including advice on commercial agreements, IP rights, and data protection and freedom of information issues.

Before qualifying as a lawyer, John had a long and varied career in the music and media industry where he developed first hand commercial expertise.

John works with clients to ensure they have in place robust contracts that reduce risk and increase value. Areas covered include: terms of sale/business; manufacturing, distribution and agency agreements; rights’ management, data export/import arrangements, and commercial diligence.
