Jacque Carter

President at Doane University

Dr. Jacque Carter, the University of New England's former provost and vice president of Academic Affairs, is Doane's 12th President. Carter was inaugurated as president of Doane on July 1, 2011.

Dr. Carter received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science from Northern Illinois University in Biological Sciences. He earned his doctorate in Marine Sciences from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia.

After three years as a conservation research fellow in Belize for the Wildlife Conservation Society, he began his academic career teaching biology at Bucknell University (Lewisburg, Pennsylvania) in 1987. He joined the University of New England faculty in 1989, becoming dean of its College of Arts and Sciences in 1998.

For the five years before he joined Doane, he managed UNE's internal administrative operations at the cabinet level.
