Software Engineering Lead at Dock

João Maia has an extensive work experience spanning over several companies and roles. João started their career as a System Administrator at UFES - Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo in 2010, where they were responsible for network configuration, Linux services maintenance, and setting up a Wiki using MediaWiki CMS.

In 2011, João worked as a Community Manager at iMasters, managing a community of professionals and facilitating communication among them.

João then joined Giran Ecommerce Solutions in 2012 as a Software Engineer, where they developed software solutions for ecommerce platforms.

In 2013, João joined Intelie as a Software Engineer and worked there till 2016, contributing to the development of software solutions for data analytics.

From 2016 to 2018, João worked as a Software Engineer at B2W Digital, focusing on software development for digital platforms.

In 2018, they joined Wine.com.br as a Software Engineer, working on software development for the wine industry.

João also worked at pag! in 2018 as a Data Engineer, where they contributed to migrating legacy Business Intelligence Architecture to a modern Data Pipeline and replacing Tableau with Metabase for data analysis.

In 2019, João joined Pagar.me as a Software Engineer and later transitioned to the role of Tech Manager | Platform, leading a team responsible for the maintenance of PCI DSS environments and API Gateway. João also managed infrastructure costs and implemented tools.

From 2019 to 2021, João worked at Quanto as the Head of Data, leading a team responsible for growth and structuring of data-related functions, such as Data Governance, Data Platform, and Data Insights. João facilitated retrospectives and planning ceremonies, conducted 1:1 meetings with team members, and played a key role in team management and mentorship.

Currently, João is employed at Dock as a Software Engineering Lead, starting in June 2023.

João Maia's education history includes obtaining a degree in Computer Engineering from Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo from 2005 to 2011. In 2017, they pursued further education in Computer Science through Udacity Brasil, completing the Nanodegree Fundamentos de Data Science I and II.
