Kyle Southerland

Kyle Southerland is a UX developer at DockYard. Kyle has previous experience as a frontend developer and UX designer at Colonial Life, where they worked on wireframes and helped to improve the company's online claims submission process. Kyle also coded updates to that process, working with senior developers to assess the feasibility of the proposed changes.

During their time at Colonial Life, Kyle also worked on a project to increase customer insurance policy retention rates. For a three-month period, they were the only developer on the team, writing C# REST services and HTML/CSS code. The project was successful, with over 3000 policies being retained as of May 2019.

Kyle has also worked as a frontend and backend developer on a plan administrator platform that created an online portal for payments and customer policy updates. Their skills include work with SCSS, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, Require.js, Vue.js, Knockout.js, SQL, and C#. Kyle is always working to increase their knowledge of various technologies.

Kyle works in an Agile environment and has experience with TFS and Git.

Kyle Southerland holds an Associate's degree in Computer Technology/ Application Programming from Midlands Technical College. Kyle also has a certification from The Interaction Design Foundation in Become A UX Designer From Scratch.
