Assistant Inspector General For Legislative Affairs And Communications at Department of Defense Office of Inspector General

Jaryd Bern currently serves as the Assistant Inspector General for Legislative Affairs and Communications at the DoD Inspector General since August 2023, advising the Inspector General on legislative matters and leading the Office of Legislative Affairs and Communications. Previously, Jaryd held various senior positions at the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) from October 2012 to August 2023, including Chief of Staff and Director of Congressional Relations and Government Affairs, where strategic direction and congressional outreach were primary responsibilities. Prior experiences in the U.S. House of Representatives for Representatives Dan Boren and Jim Matheson included roles as Chief of Staff and legislative advisor focused on national security, foreign affairs, and international trade. Jaryd holds a Master's degree in Strategic Security Studies from the National Defense University and dual Bachelor's degrees in Economics and Political Science from the University of Utah.
