Doh Eain (“Our Home”) is a social enterprise aimed at citizen-led heritage conservation and urban regeneration in Yangon. Founded in 2017, our office brings together skills in participatory research, community engagement, design thinking, urban planning and architecture.  

We design solutions that improve private and public space in Yangon for the benefit of families, the community and the city at large. Key in our model are Yangon’s home-owners and residents, whom we help to become aware of the value and potential of historical, cultural, social and natural assets in the city and whom we make central agents in our design processes in order to ensure local ownership and impact. Four principles are key to our work: 1) local leadership and user-centeredness, 2) Asset-based and creative, 3) ecological sustainability and 4) financial viability.

Doh Eain is registered as a non-profit organisation, incorporating a subsidiary company limited for its revenue-generating activities. We rely on and apply a diversified set of financing methods, attracting loans and grants for revenue generating and non-revenue generating activities.

The Design and Development team at Doh Eain is responsible for creating innovative and sustainable urban regeneration projects in Yangon. This team leverages architectural expertise, graphic design, and web development to craft participatory design solutions that integrate local community input and heritage conservation. They work collaboratively to enhance both private and public spaces, ensuring alignment with the company's principles of local leadership, asset creativity, ecological sustainability, and financial viability.

Design and Development

The Community Engagement Team at Doh Eain focuses on fostering strong relationships with Yangon’s citizens to ensure their active participation in heritage conservation and urban regeneration projects. This team conducts participatory research, facilitates workshops, and utilizes design thinking to engage local residents and home-owners, empowering them to become central agents in improving their private and public spaces. Through a combination of on-the-ground interactions and digital platforms, they strive to promote local leadership, community resilience, and sustainable urban development.

Community Engagement Team

The Leadership Team at Doh Eain is responsible for setting the strategic direction and ensuring the overall operational efficiency of the organization. This team coordinates the integration of participatory research, community engagement, design thinking, and sustainable urban planning into cohesive projects. They also oversee the financial sustainability and digital transformation of the enterprise, while upholding key principles like local leadership and ecological sustainability. The Leadership Team ensures Doh Eain remains focused on its mission of heritage conservation and urban regeneration through effective governance and resource management.

The Management and Operations team at Doh Eain ensures the seamless functioning of the organization by overseeing membership services, property and business development, human resources, and public and educational outreach. This team works collaboratively to support the organization's mission of heritage conservation and urban regeneration in Yangon, promoting local leadership, ecological sustainability, and financial viability while engaging homeowners and residents as central agents in design processes.

Management and Operations

The Finance Team at Doh Eain is responsible for managing the organization's financial health and ensuring the sustainability of its operations. This includes budgeting, financial planning, and reporting, as well as handling grants, loans, and revenue-generating activities. They ensure compliance with financial regulations and optimize resource allocation to support Doh Eain's mission of heritage conservation and urban regeneration in Yangon.
