Dr. Das was a founder of TranSwitch Corporation in Shelton, CT. The company was founded in 1988 and went public in 1995 The company supplied VLSI solutions to the communication industry. He was the CEO of the company from its inception till December 2009. Dr. Das also spent 14 years in various technical management positions with ITT Corporation in Columbus, OH, and Shelton, CT. His last position in ITT was Director of Applied Technology Division responsible for managing R&D projects in the areas of Business Communications, Speech Processing, and Advanced Software Development Tools. Dr. Das received his BE and ME in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from Jadavpur University in Calcutta, India, and his D.SC in Electrical engineering from Washington University in St. Louis, MO. From 2000 to 2008, he also served as a Member of the Board of Trustees of Washington University in St Louis. He was awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award by Washington University in 2000. In June of 2000, Dr. Das was awarded the Ernst & Young "Entrepreneur of the Year Award" for the Southwest Connecticut/New York Hudson Valley area for the telecommunications industry. In November of 2000, Dr. Das went on to be named a finalist for the 2000 Ernst & Young "Entrepreneur of the Year competition in the Technology/Communications area.
