John Powers

John Powers, PhD has a diverse work experience spanning several industries and roles. John is currently serving as the Co-Chief Executive Officer at The Agency @ Quinnipiac since 2022. Prior to this, they worked as an Assistant Professor at Quinnipiac University, where they also served as the Co-Director of the Graduate Program in Interactive Media and Communications. John has also taught strategic communications and health science courses for undergraduate students.

Additionally, John served as the President and CEO of the Dominican Republic Mission Team, leading large mission teams on trips to the Dominican Republic and facilitating collaboration between organizations in the US and the DR.

John has also held adjunct professor positions at Seton Hall University, Southern Connecticut State University, California Baptist University, and Regent University. John has experience as a Senior Communications Consultant at the Aesthetic Business Institute.

Furthermore, John held the role of Director of Public Affairs and Communications at the Yale University School of Nursing. In this role, they were responsible for developing and implementing communications strategies, managing publications and web-based media, and serving as part of the senior leadership team.

Earlier in their career, John served as the Director of Communications at The Children's Home of Cromwell, CT.

John Powers, PhD completed their education with a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Communications and Public Relations from Boston University in 1986. John then went on to earn a Master of Science (MS) degree in Education from Southern Connecticut State University in 1991. In 2017, John obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Strategic Communication from Regent University. Additionally, they hold a State of Connecticut Teaching Certification (7-12) in Social Studies and English, obtained in 1991 from the State of Connecticut Board of Education.
