Cristina Iskander

Cristina Iskander has a diverse work experience, spanning various industries and roles. Cristina currently serves as the Director of People Operations at DonorsChoose. Prior to this, they worked at Teach For America as a Phone Screener/Application Reviewer, where they conducted interviews and evaluated candidates for the corps admissions process.

In addition, Iskander held positions at Levain Bakery, where they worked as an HRIS Design and Implementation Consultant, leading the HRIS transformation project. Cristina also served as a Human Resources Manager/People Manager at Levain Bakery, overseeing the office relocation process and managing various HR modules.

Iskander also worked as a Freelance Writer, specializing in television and pop culture. Cristina wrote special features, conducted interviews, and covered and reviewed numerous TV shows and series.

Furthermore, Iskander worked as a Contractor at RCG Talent Solutions and held roles in Human Resources at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. At Lincoln Center, they managed logistical coordination for staff meetings, served on the Applicant Tracking System selection committee, and led ATS implementation and Sharepoint migration projects. Cristina also served as a Human Resources Generalist, where they partnered with hiring managers, curated content for LinkedIn, and facilitated employee orientations and onboarding processes.

Earlier in their career, Iskander worked in recruitment at Teach For America in various roles, including Director of Talent Recruitment, Manager of Talent Recruitment, and Associate of Campus Recruitment. Cristina successfully executed recruitment and hiring strategies, managed multiple searches, and supported the efforts to recruit incoming corps members.

Iskander also gained experience as a Development and Communications Intern at ArtsMemphis, an Administrative Assistant at Burleigh Consulting Group Inc, and a Sales Associate at Gap Inc.

Cristina Iskander completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology at Rhodes College from 2006 to 2010. In 2008, they also attended the University of Oxford for a short period, during which they studied European Studies/Civilization, Art History, and Literature. However, they did not obtain a degree from Oxford.
