Emilie Besnard, PhD

Principal Scientist at Dorian Therapeutics

Emilie Besnard, PhD has a diverse work experience in the field of molecular and cell biology. Their most recent position was as a Senior Scientist at Dorian Therapeutics, where they have been working since December 2021. Prior to that, they held the role of Research Scientist at the same company from October 2019 to November 2021.

Before joining Dorian Therapeutics, Emilie worked as a Scientist I at BIOAGE Labs from February 2018 to June 2019. Emilie was responsible for conducting scientific research in this role.

Emilie has also held multiple positions at research institutes. Emilie worked as a Visiting Scientist at the Gladstone Institutes, UCSF from March 2017 to February 2018. During their time there, they investigated host factors that modulate the maintenance of HIV latency and studied the regulation of SIRT3 transcription and its link to aging and metabolism.

From March 2017 to February 2018, Emilie worked as a Postdoctoral fellow at the Buck Institute for Research on Aging. Their research focused on aging and its molecular mechanisms.

Their academic background includes a PhD in Molecular and Cell Biology, which they obtained from the Institute of Functional Genomics. Their doctoral research involved investigating replication origin positions in human cells and studying the impact of chromatin structure modification in senescence on the DNA replication program.

Emilie also had a Master 2 internship at the CRBM (Macromolecular Biochemistry Research Center). During this internship, they studied the negative regulation of the cell cycle in G2 in response to DNA damage in epithelial cells.

Overall, Emilie Besnard, PhD has extensive experience in scientific research and has contributed to various projects related to aging, HIV latency, DNA replication, and cell cycle regulation.

Emilie Besnard, PhD, obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Montpellier between 2006 and 2010. Prior to that, they completed their Master 2 degree in Biology and Health at the Université Montpellier II from 2005 to 2006. Emilie also holds a degree in Research in Biology, with a specialization in agronomy, from L'Institut Agro Montpellier, where they studied from 2003 to 2006. Their education began with an Ecole préparatoire aux Grandes Ecoles program, where they studied Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Geology from 2001 to 2003. Additionally, Emilie obtained certifications in "The Data Scientist's Toolbox" from Coursera in September 2014 and "Computing for Data Analysis" from Coursera in October 2013.
