Janice Hood, Ed.S. has a diverse work experience that spans over different educational institutions and organizations. Janice worked for the Dougherty County School System from 2004 to present and held various roles, including Title I-C/Migrant Contact and Title III/District ESOL Lead Teacher and ESOL Teacher. In their roles, they focused on improving communication with families, overseeing federal programs, and ensuring the linguistic and academic development of English Learners. Prior to that, Janice taught first grade at Turner Elementary from 2004 to 2008, where they differentiated instruction and encouraged interactive learning. Janice also worked as the Director of Instruction at North Georgia College and State University from 2012 to 2014, where they traveled to Africa and Lithuania to teach English to military officers. Additionally, they served as a missionary in Mali and West Africa from 1995 to 2001, leading programs and teaching women and children.
Janice Hood, Ed.S. holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Missions/Missionary Studies and Missiology from Toccoa Falls College, which they completed from 1984 to 1988. Janice further pursued their education and completed a program in Early Childhood Education and Teaching from Albany State University between 2003 and 2005. Moving forward, Janice obtained a Master of Education (MEd) degree in ESOL from Dominican University during the period of 2009 to 2010. Finally, they earned an Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from Albany State University between 2014 and 2015. In addition, Janice has obtained certifications in Early Childhood, ESOL, and Educational Leadership from the Georgia Professional Standards Commission.
