John Russell is a Principal Environmental Scientist and commenced his consulting career with Douglas Partners in 2003.

John has spent time in Douglas Partners’ Sydney, Perth, Newcastle and Macarthur offices. He received a Bachelor of Science from Macquarie University in 2003 and a Master of Environmental Science and Law form the University of Sydney in 2008.

John has led the investigation and/or remediation of sites impacted by a wide range of contaminants including chlorinated solvents, petroleum hydrocarbons, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), organochlorine pesticides (OCP), hazardous ground gases (e.g. methane), various metals and asbestos. His experience encompasses various impacted environmental media including soil, soil gas, sediment and groundwater in both porous and fractured rock aquifers. He has undertaken remediation option evaluations for contaminated soil and groundwater plumes and has also designed remediation systems including in-situ and ex-situ bioremediation, containment cells, soil gas mitigations / vapour barriers, permeable reactive barriers (PRBs), a light non-aqueous phase liquid (LNAPL) skimming system and monitored natural attenuation (MNA) strategies.
