Megan Hewitt is an accomplished communications professional with extensive experience in community relations and journalism. Currently serving as the Community Relations Coordinator for Downers Grove School District 58 since August 2014, Megan oversees all communication efforts for the school district, which serves over 5,000 students. Prior to this role, Megan worked as a City Editor for the City of Kansas City, Mo., where collaboration with city government leadership enhanced engagement with the community. Experience as a Freelance Writer includes features for various magazines, along with earlier roles as a communications intern at the University of Illinois' Coordinated Science Laboratory and St. John's Catholic Newman Center. Megan's foundational work in media includes positions with Illini Media and the Daily Herald, complemented by an educational background in News-Editorial Journalism from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

District 58 includes more than 5,000 preschool through 8th grade students and more than 600 staff on a journey of discovery and learning at our 11 neighborhood elementary schools and 2 middle schools. The mission of District 58, in partnership with parents and community, is to challenge and engage each child by providing quality educational programs and support services in a safe, nurturing and child-centered environment in order to prepare all students to be lifelong learners and contributing members of a global society.
