Mike Baker

Mike Baker has extensive experience in municipal management, currently serving as Deputy Village Manager for the Village of Downers Grove, Illinois, since July 2000. In this role, Mike oversees a municipal corporation with a $107 million budget and 330 full-time equivalent positions, directly supervising six employees while managing key departments, including Human Resources and Information Technology. Prior to this position, Mike held the roles of Assistant Village Manager and Assistant to the Village Manager, where responsibilities included project management, budget oversight, and financial analysis. Earlier experience includes a Management Intern role at the Town of Lexington, MA, focusing on financial analysis and budget document production. Mike holds a Master of Public Administration degree from The University of Kansas and a Bachelor’s degree in Regional and Urban Planning and Political Science from Miami University.
