Richard Carey

Richard Carey has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries.

Richard started out as a Student at Lincoln Technical Institute in 2003 and transitioned to a role as a Desktop Support at Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater in 2004. At Arena Stage, Richard administered the network environment, performed desktop support, and implemented remote access policies.

In 2006, Richard joined Maxim Healthcare Services as a Systems Engineer-Technical Lead. Richard was responsible for designing and implementing various upgrades for Exchange and Blackberry servers. Richard also handled the administration of IronPort and Edge servers.

Richard's most recent role was at DP Solutions, where they held multiple positions. Starting as a Director of Technology in 2011, they were involved in the design, implementation, and management of various IT solutions for DPS customers. These solutions included data center virtualization projects, hosted environments utilizing VMware technology, Metro-clustering solutions, and network solutions using BGP, OSPF, and firewalls. In 2017, they took on the role of Director of Engineering, leading server infrastructure migrations and designing new hosting environments.

Richard Carey attended Western Governors University from 2008 to 2010, where they obtained a B.S degree in Information Technology with a focus on Network Design and Management. Prior to that, they attended the State University of New York - System from 1987 to 1990, majoring in English without obtaining a degree. In addition to their formal education, Richard has also obtained various certifications over the years. These certifications include Juniper Networks Certified Specialist in Enterprise Routing & Switching (JNCIS-ENT), Juniper Certified Networks Specialist in Security, IBM Certified Specialist in Mid range Storage Technical Support V2, IBM Certified Specialist in PureFlex Technical Support V1, IBM Certified Specialist in Storwize V7000 Technical Solutions V1, Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate in Server 2008, VMware Certified Professional 5, IBM Certified Systems Expert in System X Technical V6, Project + from CompTIA, Microsoft Certified IT Professional in Enterprise Administrator, Microsoft Certified IT Professional in Enterprise Messaging Administrator, and Cisco Certified Network Associate. Richard also has certifications in VMware Certified Professional 6 – Data Center Virtualization (VCP6-DCV) and VMware Certified Professional 6 – Network Virtualization (VCP6-NV) although the dates of obtaining these certifications are not provided.
