Adam Thomas has a diverse work experience in the field of biotechnology and molecular biology. Adam started their career as a Research Technician and Lab Manager at the Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging at Tufts University, where they assisted in nutritional immunology studies and gained proficiency in cell culture and animal handling. Adam then joined Tufts University as a Graduate Student, conducting research on DNA damage repair caused by the chemotherapeutic analog, camptothecin. During this time, they also worked as a Teaching Assistant.
After completing their graduate studies, Adam joined the National Cancer Institute (NCI) as a Postdoctoral Fellow. Here, they conducted research on the localization and protein interactions of Smad Ubiquitination Regulatory Factor 2 (Smurf2) and studied the consequences of its translocation. Adam also had the opportunity to serve as a Primary/Associate/Senior Editor for the Fellows Editorial Board (FEB), where they edited manuscripts for NIH fellows in various biomedical fields.
Adam then transitioned to MassBiologics, where they held two roles. Firstly, as a Quality Control Postdoctorate Scientist in the Bioassay group, they developed assays to analyze contract manufacturing products related to gene therapies and monoclonal antibodies. Later, as a Quality Control Scientist I, they managed the Quality Control Bioassay group and oversaw various tests for contract manufacturing projects.
Next, Adam joined Homology Medicines, Inc. as a Scientist/Manager, QC Analytics. Here, their responsibilities included in-process, release, and stability testing of gene therapy and gene editing therapeutics. Adam also managed the scheduling of testing and wrote multiple documents, such as SOPs, qualification protocols and reports, certificates of analysis, and out-of-specification reports.
Currently, Adam is working at Dragonfly Therapeutics, Inc. as a Principal Scientist and Senior QC Manager. Details regarding their specific role and responsibilities in this position are not provided.
Adam Thomas completed their education in a chronological order. Adam attended Boston University from 2001 to 2005, earning a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Biology. Subsequently, they pursued further studies at Tufts University from 2007 to 2013, where they obtained a Ph.D. degree in Genetics and Molecular Biology, specializing in Homologous Recombination DNA Repair.
