David Sutherland

David Sutherland is an accomplished engineer with a strong background in mechanical engineering and extensive experience in project management and technical leadership. Currently serving as a Principal Member of Technical Staff at Draper since January 2020, Sutherland has been instrumental in managing a BARDA OTA program focused on MPS capabilities for filovirus pathogenesis and leading hardware development for the DARPA TELLUS program. Prior to this role, Sutherland completed a Ph.D. at Boston University, where innovative research was conducted on mechanical methods to prevent thrombotic adhesion in central venous catheters. Sutherland also has research experience from internships at SRAM, LLC, and Draper Laboratory, and has contributed to undergraduate research at Tufts University. Education includes a Doctor of Philosophy in Mechanical Engineering from Boston University and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Tufts University.
