Stephen Steffes

Stephen Steffes has extensive experience in aerospace engineering with a focus on guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) systems. As a Group Lead and Senior Member Technical Staff at Draper since May 2015, Stephen has led simulation and analysis teams for the Orion GNC flight software quality team, contributing to IMU model development and algorithm implementation. Previously, Stephen served as a Research Engineer at DLR, managing a team and overseeing research quality while developing business strategies. Early in his career at Charles Stark Draper Laboratory, Stephen worked on Navy Fleet Ballistic Missile Programs and gained leadership experience in flight software. Stephen has also participated in research at NASA Langley Research Center and the University of Michigan, culminating in a Ph.D. in Aerospace Systems from the University of Bremen and multiple degrees from esteemed institutions including the Georgia Institute of Technology and the University of Michigan.
