Liezl van Wyk

Liezl van Wyk is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in operations management and resource development within the mining and energy sectors. Currently serving as SVP Northern Operations at Drax Group since January 2022, Liezl previously held senior positions at SSR Mining Inc., including Vice President of Resource Development and Acting General Manager of Seabee Gold Operations. Notable past roles at Rio Tinto encompass various managerial positions focused on operational excellence and business improvement. In addition to these roles, Liezl contributed strategic insights as a director on the Board of NT Hydro & Power Corporation. Educational credentials include an MBA from IMD, an MSc in Electrical Engineering from Stellenbosch University, and a B.Eng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering also from Stellenbosch University. Further advanced management education occurred at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Sloan School of Management in 2018.
