Dan Johnson has held various roles throughout their work experience. Dan started their career as a Freelance Web Designer from July 2004 to August 2006. After that, they joined DreamHost as a Tech Support Team Manager in September 2006 and served in this role until April 2015. During this time, they led and supported a team of tech support representatives, assisted customers with technical issues, and debugged scripting languages such as PHP, Ruby, Python, Perl, and Javascript. Following this, they became a Software Developer for the DreamHost Remixer project in April 2015, where they worked as a full-stack developer using technologies like Javascript, Reactjs, Flux, Node, Python, Pyramid, Cornice, Alembic, SqlAlchemy, and MySQL. Eventually, they transitioned to the role of Lead Software Engineer in March 2018, where they were responsible for architecting the export to WordPress feature for DreamHost's Remixer website builder. The sites exported from Remixer accounted for approximately 5% of daily new WordPress installations at DreamHost. Additionally, they built a system for automatically deploying the DreamHost WP Website Builder upon customer signup.
Dan Johnson earned a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the University of California, Santa Cruz, where they studied from 2000 to 2006.
