Panagiotis Fotakis, PhD has a diverse range of work experience in the field of immunology and biomedical research. Panagiotis currently holds the position of Senior Scientist 1, Immunology at Dren Bio, Inc. since July 2022. Prior to this, they worked as a Scientist 2, Immunology at the same company from November 2019 to July 2022.

Before joining Dren Bio, Dr. Fotakis worked at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Panagiotis started as a Post-doctoral Research Scientist in September 2014 and was later promoted to the position of Associate Research Scientist in September 2019. During their time at Columbia University, they were involved in various projects related to the anti-inflammatory effects of reconstituted HDL, toll-like receptor signaling pathway, cholesterol efflux pathways, and their association with atherosclerosis and inflammation.

Dr. Fotakis also worked as a Research Associate at Boston University from November 2009 to July 2014. In this role, they focused on characterizing the structure/function relationship of HDL, identifying therapeutics for hypolipoproteinemia and dominant type III hyperlipoproteinemia, and discovering the role of apoA-IV in forming HDL particles.

Panagiotis began their career as a PhD Graduate Researcher at the University of Crete in March 2009 and completed their PhD in April 2014. Prior to their PhD, they worked as a Research Assistant and later as a Graduate Researcher at the same university from November 2005 to December 2008. During this time, they explored the role of SCP phosphatases in the TGF-β signaling pathway and generated polyclonal antibodies for studying protein interactions in the basement membrane associated with Fraser syndrome.

Panagiotis Fotakis, PhD, has an extensive education history in the field of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Panagiotis completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at the University of Crete from 2002 to 2006. Following this, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Molecular Basis of Human Disease at the same institution from 2006 to 2008. Dr. Fotakis furthered their education by obtaining a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Crete, where they studied from 2009 to 2014.
