Mary Elizabeth Bongiovanni is an experienced educational leader with a strong background in service learning, classroom instruction, curriculum planning and evaluation, design thinking, partnerships for learning, and project management. Currently serving as a Steam Specialist at Charles R Drew Charter School since July 2018, Bongiovanni has previously held roles such as Director of Design Thinking at Pace Academy and Founder of Learning Through Design. Bongiovanni has also provided consulting services in various educational and organizational development capacities. With a focus on leveraging pedagogical expertise and leadership experience, Bongiovanni seeks to engage and empower educational organizations through innovative strategies. Educational qualifications include a Master of Science in Education in educational anthropology from the University of Pennsylvania, Principal K-12 Certification from Temple University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Hobart and William Smith Colleges.

Charles R. Drew Charter School opened in 2000 as the City of Atlanta's first public charter school. Drew represents the cradle-to-college pipeline in the East Lake community and is an integral part of a holistic neighborhood revitalization led by the East Lake Foundation.
