Derek Hodel has extensive experience in public health policy and advocacy, currently serving as President of the Board of Directors for the Drug Policy Alliance since December 2019. With a career spanning over two decades, Derek Hodel has operated as an independent consultant since 1998, providing policy research and strategic planning to numerous global clients, including the Canadian AIDS Treatment Information Exchange and the Ford Foundation. Previous roles include Senior Program Advisor and Interim Director of Programs at Physicians for Human Rights, as well as various interim executive leadership positions in organizations focusing on HIV treatment and drug policy. Derek Hodel's early career included serving as Director of Public Policy for the Gay Men's Health Crisis. Derek Hodel holds a BFA in Drama/Theatre Arts and Stagecraft from New York University.
