Irene González Zamorano

Irene González Zamorano has a diverse and extensive work experience. Irene began their career as a Front of House staff member at Tamper Coffee in 2019. Irene then worked as a Third-year University student at The University of Sheffield from 2017 to 2020, where they also held roles such as Race Equality Champion, Returning Consent Champion, and Admin support for Coding EU agencies' policy reports.

In 2020, Irene joined Roskilde University as a European Master in Global Studies Student, and later represented the university as a Young Professional in Denmark at Copenhagen Capacity.

Irene gained further international experience as a Human Rights Intern at Copenhagen 2021 WorldPride & EuroGames in 2021. Irene also participated in the EU-US Young Leaders Seminar organized by the German Marshall Fund of the United States in 2022.

Irene González Zamorano has demonstrated their interest in European affairs through their roles at the European Parliament as an International Affairs Intern, and at BusinessEurope as a Junior Adviser in the International Relations Department. Irene further enhanced their knowledge in global studies as a European Master in Global Studies Student at Universiteit Gent through the Erasmus Mundus program. During this time, they also served as a Student Assistant to the Governance in Conflict Network (GIC), where they provided support in communication, network publications, event planning, and operational tasks.

Most recently, Irene joined DS NORDEN as a Sanctions Risk Analyst in 2023.

Irene González Zamorano has a diverse education history. Irene started their academic journey in 2015 by participating in an educational year abroad at Leland Public School in Michigan. In 2016, they attended Doctor Marañón High School, where they completed their Bachillerato degree in Social Science & Humanities.

In 2017, Irene enrolled at The University of Sheffield and pursued a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations & Politics. During their time at the university, they obtained certifications in French Proficient Level C2 and Certificate in Advanced English (CAE). Irene also participated in the Student Training Programme, where they engaged elected representatives on climate change. Irene completed their undergraduate degree in 2020.

Continuing their academic journey, Irene joined Roskilde University in 2020 to pursue a Master of Arts in Erasmus Mundus Global Studies. After a year, they transferred to Ghent University in 2021, still pursuing the same degree. At Ghent University, Irene obtained the English C2 Level certification.

Throughout their education, Irene also acquired additional certifications. In 2018, they completed the Socorrista en piscinas e instalaciones acuáticas certification from the Asociación de Técnicos en Emergencias Acuáticas. In 2019, they obtained the Young Professional in Denmark certification from Copenhagen Capacity. Irene also attended the Summer Institute in Quantitative Methods at the University of Oxford in 2018.
