Walid Khalid Abdul-Hamid

Walid Khalid Abdul-Hamid is a Consultant Psychiatrist at Dubai Healthcare City since 2017 and serves as a Board Member of the Advisory Board of the Arab Psychological Sciences Network. With extensive experience in community and social psychiatry, Abdul-Hamid has contributed to the field through published research, particularly focusing on mental health and Islam as well as trauma psychiatry. Previously, Abdul-Hamid held the position of President Elect at the British Arab Psychiatric Association and served as a Consultant Psychiatrist at North Essex Partnership Foundation Trust for 17 years, where challenges were faced regarding management policies affecting patient welfare. Additionally, Abdul-Hamid was a Senior Lecturer at Barts Centre for Psychiatry, teaching MSc programs and advising the Cultural Consultation Service. Academic qualifications include an MBChB from the Medical College of the University of Baghdad, MRCPsych from the Royal College of Psychiatrists, and a PhD in Mental Health Epidemiology from UCL.
