Kaya Ngqaka has extensive work experience in various leadership roles. Kaya is currently serving as the Interim Chief Executive Officer at KZN GROWTH FUND. Prior to that, they held the position of Chief Operating Officer at Dube TradePort Corporation since 2015. In addition, they have served as a Member of the Board of Advisors at the World Export Processing Zones Association (WEPZA) and as a Member of the Board of Directors at Saldanha Bay Industrial Development Zone. Kaya has also worked in the public sector, holding positions such as Chief Director for Infrastructure Investment Support at the Department of Trade and Industry, Chief Director for Transport Economic Analysis at the Department of Transport, and Director for Safety and Security at the National Treasury. Kaya also has experience in academia, having lectured in economics at the University of Pretoria.
Kaya Ngqaka began their education at Holy Cross High School from 1985 to 1987, where they obtained a Matriculation degree with a focus on Mathematics, Physics, Biology, Geography, English, and Xhosa. Later, they attended the University of Transkei/Universiteit van Transkei from an unspecified start year to 1991, and earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree. Additionally, Ngqaka pursued further studies in Economics at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, where they obtained an M.Com degree in 1997. From 2001 to 2002, they engaged in Post-Grad studies in Economics at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam). Returning to the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Ngqaka successfully completed a Master of Commerce degree in Economics from 1997 to 1999.
