Christoph Schwitzer

Christoph Schwitzer has a strong background in zoology and conservation, with experience in various leadership roles. Christoph is currently the Director at Dublin Zoo since July 2020. Prior to this, they worked for the Bristol Zoological Society, where they served as the Chief Zoological Officer from 2018 to 2020 and as the Director of Conservation from 2014 to 2018. Christoph also held the position of Head of Research at the Bristol Zoological Society from 2006 to 2014. Before joining the society, they worked as a Programme Coordinator at the Association Européenne pour l'Etude et la Conservation des Lémuriens (AEECL) from 2003 to 2005.

Christoph Schwitzer obtained their Abitur from Albertus-Magnus-Gymnasium between 1984 and 1993. Christoph then pursued a degree in Biology, specializing in Zoology/Animal Biology, from Universitaet zu Koeln from 1993 to 1999, earning a Dipl.-Biol. degree. Christoph continued their education at the same institution and received their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Zoology/Animal Biology from 1999 to 2003.
