John K. Schmidt

John K. Schmidt is the current director at Dubuque Bank and Trust. Prior to this, they were with Heartland Financial USA, Inc. from September 1984 to July 2020 where they held the title of EVP COO. In this role, they oversaw the Finance, Operations, Marketing, Wealth Management and Risk Management Areas. Additionally, Schmidt sat on the boards of Heartland, Dubuque Bank and Trust, Galena State Bank and Riverside Community Bank. John continues to serve as the vice chair of the board of directors of Dubuque Bank and Trust and on the board of Heartland Financial, chairing the Risk Committee.

Before Heartland Financial, Schmidt worked at KPMG US from July 1982 to August 1984 as an auditor.

John K. Schmidt has a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Northern Iowa and is certified from the AICPA in CPA.
