Charles Shimooka has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Charles is currently working as the Head of UX at Duetto since December 2021. Prior to that, they served as the VP Product Design at Funnel IQ from September 2020 to November 2021. Charles also worked at McKesson as the Director of Product and User Experience from October 2017 to January 2020, and as the Sr. Product and UX Manager from May 2015 to October 2017. Before joining McKesson, they were the Lead User Experience Designer at eHealth Inc from August 2014 to May 2015. Charles had an extensive tenure at DIRECTV Latin America as the Senior Manager of Product and UX from February 2009 to April 2014. Charles worked as the Principal User Experience Designer at Keane from March 2007 to February 2009. Charles also gained experience as a User Experience Designer/Project Manager at TechTarget from August 2004 to December 2006. Furthermore, they worked as a Design/Development Consultant at Shimooka.com from February 2002 to August 2004. Charles started their career at Webridge as a Visual Designer and Front-End Developer from August 2000 to February 2002. Lastly, they worked as a Biologist/Cartographer at WRA, Inc. from August 1996 to February 1999.
Charles Shimooka completed their education at two different institutions. Charles obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from Cornell University, studying between 1992 and 1996. Later, they pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree at the University of California, Berkeley, Haas School of Business, from 2019 to 2021.
In addition to their formal education, Shimooka has also acquired several certifications. In 2016, they obtained a UX Certificate from Nielsen Norman Group, indicating their expertise in user experience. Charles also became an ABM Certified Strategist through Demandbase, a prominent account-based marketing institution, in April 2016. Recently, in January 2022, Shimooka completed two courses, "The Fundamentals of Hotel Distribution" and "The Fundamentals of Revenue Management: The Cornerstone of Revenue Strategy," offered by Coursera.
