DCRI Faculty Associate Director And Kiser-arena Distinguished Professor Of Pediatrics at Duke Clinical Research Institute

Daniel K. (Danny) Benjamin, Jr. has a diverse work experience in the field of pediatrics and clinical research. Daniel K. (Danny) has held various roles at the Duke Clinical Research Institute, including DCRI Faculty Associate Director and Kiser-Arena Distinguished Professor of Pediatrics. In this role, they are responsible for the day-to-day management of assigned Therapeutic Area Faculty Leaders and operational staff. Daniel K. (Danny) also oversees scientific and business development initiatives.

Additionally, Benjamin has worked as an Adjunct Professor at the University of North Carolina School of Pharmacy Foundation.

Daniel K. (Danny) has been associated with the Duke University School of Medicine since 1998, where they have held positions such as Professor with Tenure in Pediatrics, Chief of the Division of Quantitative Sciences, and Director of the Clinical Research Fellowship Program. In their role as Fellowship Program Director, they supervised the education of medical students, residents, and fellows in clinical research.

Benjamin has also served as the Chair and Principal Investigator at the Pediatric Trials Network and as a Medical Officer and Scientific Advisor at the FDA's Office of the Commissioner.

Danny Benjamin, Jr.'s education history begins in 1986 when they attended the University of Virginia and obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in 1990. Daniel K. (Danny) then pursued a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree at the same university from 1995 to 1998, specializing in Pediatric Resident. Following this, Danny enrolled at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, completing a Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) degree from 1999 to 2001. Finally, they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill between 2001 and 2003.
