Emergency Medicine APP Team Lead at Duke Raleigh Hospital

Bart Stearns, MS, DMSc, PA-C has worked as a Critical Care Physician Assistant at Duke Raleigh Hospital since October 2017. Bart is currently the Emergency Medicine APP Team Lead, starting in January 2023. Prior to this, they worked as a Physician Assistant at FastMed Urgent Care starting in January 2015.

Bart Stearns, MS, DMSc, PA-C has an extensive education history. Bart obtained a Doctor of Medical Science (DMSc) degree from the University of Lynchburg in 2023. Prior to that, they completed a Master of Medical Science (MMS) degree in Physician Assistant Studies at Methodist University from 2012 to 2014. In 2010 to 2012, Bart earned a Master of Science (MS) degree in Microbiology from Auburn University. Bart began their academic journey by completing a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Cell/Cellular and Molecular Biology at Huntingdon College from 2005 to 2009.

In addition to their educational achievements, Bart Stearns holds several certifications. Bart became a DOT Certified Medical Examiner through the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners in July 2015. Bart also obtained a DEA Controlled Substance Registration from the Drug Enforcement Administration in January 2015. Bart is licensed by the North Carolina Medical Board and holds a Physician Assistant Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), both obtained in December 2014. Furthermore, they obtained Stroke Scale Certification from The National Institutes of Health in December 2013 and completed Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Basic Life Support certifications from the American Heart Association | American Stroke Association in January 2013.

It is worth noting that Bart Stearns also holds a Certified IVC First examiner certification, although it is unclear when and where they obtained it.
