Margaret Berei is an experienced professional in sustainability and policy, currently serving as an Alumni Advisor and co-founder of the Green Amendment Campaign with the New Jersey Student Sustainability Coalition since August 2020. In addition to mentoring student representatives and coordinating policy initiatives, Margaret holds the position of Elected Senator on the Services and Sustainability Committee in the Duke Student Government since September 2023. Margaret also contributes as a Student Partner with the League of Women Voters starting in June 2023. Prior experience includes internships at Environment New Jersey Inc. and the New Jersey League of Conservation Voters Education Fund, where Margaret co-chaired the Waste and Toxins Committee. Additional experience includes summer camp counseling at Lakeland Hills Family YMCA. Margaret is pursuing a degree in Environmental Science & Policy at Duke University, building on a strong academic background that includes leadership seminars at the University of Notre Dame.

Duke Student Government (DSG) is the official governing body of undergraduate students at Duke. DSG acts as the principal liaison between students and the Duke administration and oversees the funding and approval of student organizations on campus. DSG represents the student voice at Duke, lobbying for policies and programs that better the undergraduate experience. DSG has a long history of success in both on campus student ventures, as well as beyond.
