Danchen Yang

Danchen Yang has a diverse work experience spanning multiple companies and roles. In 2011, they began their career as a Chinese Language Ambassador at Routes into Languages. Danchen then joined Zhike Network in 2012 as a Manager, handling curriculum and teaching responsibilities. In 2014, they worked as an English Instructor at Teachers College, Columbia University and concurrently served as a Teaching Associate in East Asian Studies at Columbia University in the City of New York. Danchen also worked as a Mandarin Teacher for the Columbia in Shanghai Summer Program during that time. In 2015, they returned to Zhike Network as a Manager, focusing on curriculum design. From 2016 to 2019, they held the position of Senior Director of Curriculum & Product Design, followed by the role of Partner and VP of Learning and Teaching. Danchen'smost recent role was at Duolingo, where they started in 2020 as a Senior Curriculum Designer before being promoted to Learning and Curriculum Manager in 2021.

Danchen Yang has a Master's degree in Applied Linguistics from Teachers College, Columbia University, which they obtained between 2013 and 2015. Prior to that, they earned their Bachelor's degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages from Beijing Language and Culture University from 2009 to 2013. In 2012, Danchen was an exchange student at the University of Cambridge, where they studied English Literature. Additionally, in 2011 and 2012, they were an exchange student at Nottingham Trent University, focusing on Linguistics. Danchen also obtained certifications in "Maya 2015 Essential Training" and "Web Design Fundamentals" from lynda.com in August 2015.
