Joey Ellis

Joey Ellis has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of design and illustration. Starting in 2002, Joey worked as a freelance graphic designer and illustrator before joining BOLT Group in 2004. At BOLT, Joey was responsible for packaging, identity, POP, and environmental design, as well as creating original illustrations for various media. In 2007, Joey transitioned to Hawse Design, where they served as a graphic designer and illustrator for five years. In 2018, Joey joined Stripe as a designer and worked there until September 2020. They then established their own company, Joey Ellis Inc., in 2012, specializing in branding, publication, and illustration projects for clients such as Disney, ESPN, Facebook, and many others. Currently, Joey is employed at Duolingo, where they have held the positions of Senior Illustrator since February 2021 and Staff Illustrator since March 2023.

Joey Ellis attended East Carolina University from 1998 to 2002, where they earned a Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design.
