Joseph F. Hearn

Joe Hearn joined Dupaco in 1986 as director of marketing, later promoted to executive vice president. In that role, he oversaw all elements of the credit union’s branding, marketing, and public relations initiatives until 2008, when he transitioned to chief operating officer. He was named president and chief executive officer in 2012.

Hearn’s state and national credit union leadership roles include serving on the board of directors of the Credit Union Executives Society (CUES), in which he is also a past chair, and serving as on the board of directors and as past chair of the Iowa Credit Union League (ICUL). Additionally, he is a past member of the board of directors of Affiliates Management Company (AMC), a wholly-owned subsidiary of ICUL that oversees operations of ICUL’s operating companies.

He is also a past member of the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) State Credit Union Subcommittee, CUNA Plan to Win Task Force, and was inducted into the CUNA Marketing Council Hall of Fame in 2010. He is also a former board member and chair of the Iowa Credit Union Foundation and was an American Advertising Federation 9th District Silver Medal Award recipient in 2000.

Locally, Hearn serves on the Board of Directors of the Greater Dubuque Development Corporation, the Steeple Square Board of Directors and is involved with Resurrection Parish and Holy Family. He also serves on the board of the Dupaco R.W. Hoefer Foundation.

Hearn holds the Certified Chief Executive (CCE) designation from CUES having completed CEO Institute conducted at the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia, the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University, and The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Hearn is a proud alumnus of Loras College, having earned undergraduate degrees in marketing and management. He also earned his MBA from the University of Dubuque.
