Dirk Bakker

Hoofd Onderhoud Theatertechniek at Dutch National Opera & Ballet

Dirk Bakker has extensive experience in theatre technical maintenance and engineering. Since December 2004, Dirk has served as Hoofd Onderhoud Theatertechniek at Nationale Opera & Ballet, a leading institution for opera and ballet in the Netherlands. Concurrently, Dirk is the Head of the Maintenance Department at the Amsterdam Music Theatre, overseeing the management and functionality of technical installations and leading projects for expansions and modifications. Prior experience includes a role as Senior Engineer at the Department of Defence from 1993 to 2004, focusing on NATO infrastructure projects related to fuel installations, and as Head of the Engineering Department at Defensie Pijpleiding Organisatie, managing restoration and construction projects for underground piping systems. Dirk holds an Ingenieur degree in Scheepswerktuigkunde from Hogere Zeevaartschool Terschelling, obtained between 1979 and 1984.
