Sophie Vroegop is an accomplished professional with a diverse background in music, cultural policy, and archaeology. Currently serving as a Fondsenwerver and Assistant Artistic Director at Nationale Opera & Ballet since March 2022, Sophie previously contributed as a Violist for the Belinfante Quartet, which is recognized for its performances of lesser-known classical pieces. As the Artistic Leader and Organiser of the Nescio Ensemble, Sophie co-founded an international string orchestra focused on engaging non-classical audiences through thematic performances. With experience as a Project Assistant at the Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken, Sophie supported cultural and development projects, enhancing visibility for initiatives facilitated by Dutch embassies. Additional roles include archaeologist at Österreichisches Archäologisches Institut, research assistant at the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands, and curatorial intern at Allard Pierson. Sophie holds multiple degrees, including a Master of Arts in Ancient History and Archaeology from the University of St Andrews, and two Master's degrees in Viola from Koninklijk Conservatorium.
