Chris Fourie is a medical doctor turned MLOps engineer and health data scientist who is currently a Lead MLOps Engineer at DVT. They work full-time at the South African Western Cape Provincial Health Data Centre, building digital infrastructure for privacy-preserving federated analysis of health data. Chris co-founded multiple initiatives, including SisonkeBiotik and Grassroots-Parti, aiming to enhance AI/ML accessibility for health research in Africa. With a Master’s in Computer Science and a medical degree from the University of the Witwatersrand, Chris's expertise spans software engineering, data engineering, and technical consulting within digital health. They are particularly motivated by addressing inequity in healthcare, drawing from their experiences growing up in South Africa.
