Suzy Parker

Suzy Parker has a long history of professional experience. Suzy began their career in 2006 as a Social Worker at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital and FEGS Bronx Center. In 2007, they worked as a Psychiatric Social Worker at Montefiore Medical Center and North Central Bronx Hospital. In 2011, they took on the role of Mental Health Coordinator for Occupy Wall Street/Occupy Sandy. In 2012, they worked as a Stress Counselor for FEMA and a Freelance Copy Editor for BET.com and the New York Observer. Finally, in 2016, they became the Copy Chief for Dwell, where they are the sole copy editor for the print magazine and does extensive rewriting and factchecking as needed.

Suzy Parker obtained their JBA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1979. Suzy then attended the American University Graduate School of Journalism and received an MA-Journ in journalism and public affairs in 1984. In 2001, they attended the Fordham University Graduate School of Social Services and received an MSW in social work in 2003. Suzy also obtained an LMSW from the NYC Department of Education Office of the Professions in December 2003. Additionally, they obtained a Rape Crisis and Domestic Violence Counselor certification from the NYS Dept. of Health and St. Luke's-Roosevelt Crime Victims Treatment Center in March 2008. Prior to this, Suzy Parker attended Briarcliff High School.
