James Scott is a Professor at the University of Toronto since September 2002, specializing in exposure assessment methods for biological contaminants in both workplace and environmental settings. With extensive expertise in the taxonomy and ecology of microfungi, particularly within the ascomycete orders Eurotiales, Onygenales, and Capnodiales, James has also served as the Director of the UAMH Centre for Global Microfungal Biodiversity since January 2016, overseeing a significant biobank of nearly 12,000 strains. In addition, James has worked as a consultant for the Ontario Poison Centre since September 2003, as a Medical Mycology Consultant with Dynacare since February 2002, and has operated as a business owner at Sporometrics since June 1993. James obtained a PhD in Mycology and Occupational Hygiene from the University of Toronto between 1994 and 2000.
