Alexandra Hermelin has a broad range of work experience. Alexandra started their career in 2008 as an Administrator at Klövern AB, where they were responsible for creating electronic databases, translating documents, and providing general assistance with tasks within the company. In 2012, they began working as a Research Scientist at Lund University. In 2016, Alexandra started working at Dynamic Code AB as a Laboratory Engineer & Product Developer and a Research Scientist. Additionally, they completed an internship at Dynamic Code AB as a Molecular Biologist, where they conducted bovine and equine DNA testing to determine parental lineage and oversaw paternity and kinship tests, as well consumer tests for chlamydia, mycoplasma and monozygotic twin testing.

Alexandra Hermelin's education history includes a Matric IEB from Springfield Convent in 1999-2003, a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Chemical, Molecular and Cell Biology from University of Cape Town in 2004-2007, a Master of Science (MSc) in Molecular Genetics and Physiology from Linköping University in 2008-2010, a Nanomedicine course in Nanotechnology from Karolinska Institutet in 2011, and a Stem Cell Biology Research Program from Lund University in 2012. Alexandra also obtained a certification in Introduction to Mathematical Thinking from Coursera in February 2014.
