Michael McManus Cism

Michael McManus, CISM, CISSP has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning various roles and industries. Michael currently holds the position of Vice President of Cybersecurity at DynTek, a role they have held since July 2021. In addition to this, they also serve as the Principal Security Architect and Security Practice Leader at DynTek since August 2020.

Prior to joining DynTek, McManus was the Founder of Directional Security LLC since August 2011. Here, they built and led the company to provide security services and solutions.

Before embarking on their entrepreneurial journey, McManus served as the Chief Information Security Architect at NYS - Office of the CTO from November 2012 to August 2020. This position allowed him to implement and oversee strategic security initiatives for the organization.

Michael'sprevious experience includes roles in the government sector, where they served as an Enterprise/Network Security Architect from an unknown start date to October 2012, and a Software Engineer from June 2007 to an unknown end date in 2010. Prior to their government work, McManus was on active duty in the United States Army from June 1996 to October 2001.

McManus also serves as an Advisory Board Member at the University at Albany, SUNY since February 2022.

Michael McManus, CISM, CISSP has a strong educational background in computer science and applied mathematics. From 2003 to 2006, they attended Hawaii Pacific University, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Computer Science. Prior to that, from 1998 to 2001, they pursued their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Applied Mathematics at the University of Maryland Global Campus.

In addition to their academic achievements, Michael McManus has also obtained several certifications to enhance their professional qualifications. These certifications include Cisco CyberOps obtained in October 2021 from Cisco, GIAC GSEC obtained in June 2010 from the SANS Institute, and GMON obtained in April 2018, also from the SANS Institute. Michael has also pursued CCNA R&S and CCNP R&S certifications from Cisco. Moreover, Michael holds the CISM (Certified Information Security Manager) certification from ISACA and the CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) certification from (ISC)².
