Angie Comfort has a breadth of experience in the healthcare industry, spanning multiple roles and companies. Angie is currently a Senior Consultant at e4, starting in December 2022. Prior to this, they worked at LifePoint Health® as the Assistant Vice President HIM & Operations from May 2021 to December 2022, and as the Senior Director CDI & Coding Operations from November 2018 to May 2021. Angie also served as the Corporate Director HIM & Coding Operations at RCCH HealthCare Partners from May 2018 to November 2018.
Before joining LifePoint Health® and RCCH HealthCare Partners, Angie held positions at AHIMA, where they were the Senior Director, HIM Practice Excellence from June 2014 to May 2018, and the Director, HIM Practice Excellence from November 2011 to June 2014. Angie also worked at Community Health Systems as the Senior Director of Coding Services from December 2001 to December 2011.
Additionally, Angie has experience as a HIM Consultant, serving as a Coding & HIM Operational Consultant from January 1997 to December 2001. Angie began their career at Stuttgart Regional Medical Center, working as a DRG Coordinator/QI Coordinator from January 1994 to January 2000, and as an ER/OP Analyst/ER/OP Coder from January 1994 to January 1996.
Angie Comfort's education history begins with obtaining a Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Administration from Stephens College in 2014. Angie then went on to earn a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a focus on Project Management from Trevecca Nazarene University between 2017 and 2019. Currently, Angie is pursuing a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) in Health/Health Care Administration/Management from Trevecca Nazarene University, starting in 2019.
In addition to their formal education, Angie has obtained several certifications. Angie became a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) in 1999 and a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) in 1997, both from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). Angie also obtained the certification as an AHIMA-approved ICD-10-CM/PCS Trainer in 2011. Angie has further achieved the Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner (CDIP) certification in 2012, the Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification in 2014, and the Certified Coding Specialist - Physician Based (CCS-P) certification in 2017, all from the American Health Information Management Association. Lastly, they hold the Certified Inpatient Coding Auditor (CICA) certification from the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA), obtained in 2018.
Furthermore, Angie has been recognized as a Founding Member of the Montgomery County Professional Women for Good, with this membership obtained from Grapevine in March 2023.
