David Minnigan

Principal at ESa

David came to ESa while still an architecture student at the University of Tennessee, and was hired full-time in 1982. Before finishing his degree, he had the opportunity to study in Greece, Italy, and France, sparking a life-long interest in architectural history and travel.

As a Designer and Planner, he has worked on a wide variety of building types—education, hospitality, performing arts, senior living, corporate office, and community facilities. He helped design the AT&T Building in Nashville and has also designed over 130 senior living facilities throughout the country.

He is passionate about the arts and education, both in design and life. David served as Project Designer and Principal-in-Charge on numerous academic center, food service, student center, and residential projects on Belmont University’s campus (Nashville, TN)—more than 15 projects over the past 20 years. He continues to be involved with many local arts organizations, currently serving on the board of the Arts and Business Council of Nashville (AFTA affiliate). He was a founding Board Member of ACE (Architects-Contractors-Engineers) Mentoring Nashville and helped found a chapter in Charleston, SC.

David stays very involved with design oversight and project management, but also focuses on mentoring younger interns, improving quality processes for design, and allocating time for community work. He has been on numerous mission trips to build schools in Ecuador, and started a “coffee ministry” in his church called “Common Grounds”—which fosters community and “helps keep folks awake during the sermon.”
